Intermediate course Monday 22nd April

Well I woke up to a stunning sunny morning only for it to get steadily more cloudy and windy as the day went on, but tony and I didn't let that dampen our spirits! Tony by his own admission was lacking a bit of confidence, working through the core it was quite clear tony was a good rider. However when  I introduced the 'look where you're going' concept tony really could see some improvements and his cornering was so much smoother, well done tony!

After an intensive morning we stopped for a well earned sandwich, I have to say I spoilt myself with a 'luxury' hot chocolate from the Hamsterly cafe. If you haven't tried one I'd recommend one! Tony sensibly went for the low calorie coffee option! On the afternoon we put some of the lessons learned on the morning into practice and attacked 'transmission'. Tony's berm riding looked really good, less fine movements, smoother and faster. All in all a successful day!

Busman's holiday

Well Friday came around and there was a brief break in the weather and I thought, best make the most of it! Me and a friend decided to practice our trail skills around Gisburn Forest in Lancashire. Well, what a fantastic afternoons riding we had! Yes, there were a huge amount of puddles around but that just added to the fun.

Grant wanted to do a bit of work on his drop if technique so we practiced a few on the new 'Hope Line'.
The drop itself wasn't that high but combined with the rolling landing and slightly blind lip it proves a challenge for even the more experienced rider. Picking the right line over the drop is crucial as it affected the run out and the corner at the bottom. With some advice and explanation on different lines Grant was soon hitting the drop with confidence! Well done Grant!

Intermediate Course 23/09/2012

Today I had Dan on an intermediate course at Hamsterly Forest. Dan had actually ridden quite a bit and to be honest was a bit hard on himself as he was actually a good rider, all he needed was a bit of confidence that he was doing the right things at the right time and he was away. We worked on some basic techniques as well as some slightly more advanced ones to make sure he had the foundations to go away and practice. At the end of the day he was attacking drops and corners at speeds he was certain at the beginning of the day he thought was impossible, well done Dan!

Really good technique and body position here, relaxed body, slightly over the back of the seat and looking ahead ready for what's coming up, nice one Dan!

Dan had said before hand that he had always had a problem with keeping the front wheel on the floor when climbing, today we worked on some small corrections to his body position and hey presto, it was sorted!
